) 🌟 Businesswoman of the Year STEM – My Journey, My Why, and the Heart Behind Health 4 U

Imagine if you did what You Love.....Everyday!

If someone had told me this time last year that I would be awarded Network Cork Businesswoman of the Year – STEM Professional, and now be a National Finalist for Network Ireland, I’m not sure I would have believed them. Yet here I am — proud, honoured, and deeply grateful to represent Network Cork, STEM, and the work that I love.  Winning Businesswoman of the Year STEM has reminded me how important it is to follow the path that aligns with your passion.

This experience has reminded me of something powerful:

When you do what you love — every day — life changes.
Your confidence grows. Your health improves. And work finally feels aligned.

My biggest message to anyone reading this is simple:
Don’t be afraid to step up, trust your gut and go after what feels right for you.
Life comes first — not work — and when your career aligns with your passion, balance becomes possible.

Health Promotion and Prevention has always been my passion, and it is the foundation on which Health 4 U was built.

❤️ Why I Do What I Do

I believe people deserve to understand their own bodies — to know when something feels “off”, to identify triggers, and to feel empowered rather than dismissed.
Too often, individuals are left feeling unheard, especially women navigating complex symptoms.

We are our own greatest advocates.
We know our bodies better than anyone else.

My mission is to give people the knowledge, clarity, and support they need to take control of their health with confidence — not confusion.

👩‍⚕️ My Story — From Nursing to Nutrigenomics

My journey into healthcare began in 1997. After the Leaving Cert, I joined a Dublin hospital as a Pre-Trainee Nurse. Failing biology meant I couldn’t continue — a moment that felt devastating at the time but truly shaped my future.

I returned to Kildare, completed Pre-Nursing, repeated biology, and applied to the UK — where I was accepted to both the University of Salford and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

I chose Salford (thanks to a Man Utd-mad dad’s influence!) — and it turned out to be the best decision I ever made.

Salford became my home.
I made friends for life.
I learned skills and gained experiences that shaped me as a nurse and as a person.

Experiencing healthcare in the UK, Ireland, and later Australia gave me a unique, broadened perspective on patient care, teamwork, autonomy, and the importance of supporting both staff and patients.

These experiences — good and challenging — all formed the foundation for the practitioner I am today.

After returning to Ireland, I worked in:

  • specialist roles

  • nurse management

  • research

  • public hospitals

  • private settings

And each role taught me something new.

But I kept feeling a gap.

Patients needed more time, more explanation, more personalised support, and more focus on prevention.

That’s where my love for nutrition, functional health, and nutrigenomics began.
I saw clearly how many symptoms were linked to stress, food, genetics, environment, and lifestyle — not just illness.

And so, Health 4 U was born.

My journey to becoming Businesswoman of the Year STEM was shaped by years of clinical experience, curiosity and a drive to help others.

🌟 Why Choose Health 4 U?

One word:
Time.

Your GP has 10–15 minutes.
Consultants may have even less.

They deal with the most urgent issues, and they simply cannot explore the full picture.

As a Businesswoman of the Year STEM, my focus remains on bringing science, compassion and personalised health together.

At Health 4 U, we do.

We take the time to:

  • listen

  • understand

  • map your symptoms

  • connect the dots

  • find the “why” behind your health struggles

  • guide you through personalised support

Our clients often say:
“This is the first time I’ve ever felt heard.”

And that is exactly why I do what I do.

Being named Businesswoman of the Year STEM has strengthened my commitment to preventative health.
